1997 SEASON REVIEW
The MFL lost 5 owners for the 1997 campaign, Randy Green (The Force), James Thornton (NFL Rejects), Claude Durham (Gophers), Dan Gwinn (Dugongs), and the Dale Needleman trio (Diqueheds). This reduction in talent dilution led to increased parity in the league, as two of the playoffs teams finished just .500. The Commish's wife, Andrea, decided that she couldn't beat 'em, so she joined 'em by taking over the Diqueheds franchise (renamed AssKickers). How quickly can things change? Two years ago, the Skunks went from last to first in their division. This season the Huskies went from first to last. The internet was not only used for the draft, but became the sole source for league reports and correspondence. The MFL posted it's Homepage on the web (www.netcom.com/~tjk/mfl.html) resulting in weekly reports and stats that could be accessed at anytime. The Mr. Chef Division finally ended the curse when the Skunks beat the Heroes for the Mayo Bowl Title. Paul said he was going to stop giving his son advice. Brett Favre matched Steve Young by winning his third consecutive MVP Award. Steve Schiraldi immersed himself in the internet, trying to get the edge on the league and improve his playoff chances. Steve's Big City franchise just missed the playoffs, but his intensity was rewarded with the Ed Lindsey Award.
