1996 SEASON REVIEW

1996 marked another season with every owner returning. This game must be addictive. The only significant rule change centered around the NFL bye weeks. Owners are now allowed to put an NFL bye week player on "reserve" and add a player to fill a starting slot for one week. This rule kept teams intact and made sure everyone kept an eye on the undrafted players list. The in person draft was repeated in Nashville and was another success. Although fewer owners attended than last season, four owners used the internet to draft live, bringing the in person attendance to eight. Being live had less impact this year, however, as two of the playoff teams were from the by mail draftees (Skunks & Sudden Death). Skunks and owner Brett Hoffman mastered the most remarkable turn around in league history, going from last to first in the Mr. Chef division regular season before falling to Sudden Death in the division championship. Skunks still finished with the league's best record and Brett's enthusiasm was rewarded with the 1996 Ed Lindsey Award.
