Mayonnaise Football League Established 1990

2004 SEASON REVIEW

The MFL's fifteenth season began with new blood at the helm of the former Sudden Death franchise. Mark Williams hung up his cleats following last season and he left as one of the most successful owners in the league's history, making the playoffs nine out of eleven seasons. The new blood named themselves The Illuminati with the slightly lesser target of MFL domination rather than the loftier goals of the namesake. Todd Mlsna and Tom Steiger, gradeschool friends of the Koss brothers and the commish, led the franchise to the regular season division title only to lose to eventual repeat champion, Blue Thunder. In the Bennett's Division, Big City returned to a familiar place, the division championship game. But this time Steve's players took out the perenial winners, Team Xtreme, to face Blue Thunder in the Mayonnaise Bowl. Like 2003, Blue Thunder had his squad peaking at the right time. The 144 pts against The Illuminati was followed by 171 pts against Big City, ending Mr. Schiraldi's quest for a second crown. Hive's Peyton Manning became the second man to break the 500 pt barrier, netting him the 2004 MVP, and Lee Wilson's tireless drive for excellence and second consecutive championship made him the obvious choice for the Ed Lindsey Award.
