Mayonnaise Football League Established 1990

1994 SEASON REVIEW

The 1994 season was marked with more change than any other. The league began performance scoring in 1994. This new method awarded points for yardage totals in a game as well as the standard points for TDs et. al. This new system gave true worth to the Barry Sanders’ of the league who always gain mucho yards but rarely score (consequently, Barry returned to the All-Pro team). High scores abounded as teams were doubling the past weekly average scores. Almost the entire MFL record book was rewritten. This exciting season began on a low note, however, as the League lost one of it’s charter members, Ed Lindsey, to his long battle with cancer. As a memorial, the Commissioner’s Award was renamed The Ed Lindsey Award. Phil Arisman of the Hive franchise made some incredible pre-draft trades, began the season hot, and never looked back, dominating the league from start to finish. Hive never lost in it’s division, a feat never before accomplished. For the effort, Hive won The Mayonnasie Bowl, and Phil, the Ed Lindsey Award. Steve Young, traded late-season to the New Yorkers franchise, won his third consecutive MFL Most Valuable Player Award.
