2003 SEASON REVIEW
The fourteenth season began with another league milestone. In 1997, the MFL first published it's homepage, making reports and league communications available to the owners at any time. In 2003, we entered 100% web based league management, with owner's submitting their own lineups, initiating trades, reviewing stats, seeing real time scoring updates, and using a message board for discussions. Easier for the commish, more info and convenience for the owners. The season began with a fantastic draft day. Several owners visited MFL HQ for the event which included a trip to the NFL Hall of Fame in Canton and concluded with a golf outing that may have been one of the longest days in George's life (he suffered through the hacking of Phil, Bob, and Tim). The four playoff teams rose to the top early (Blue Thunder, Team Xtreme, Sudden Death, and Huskies), leading their division races for the majority of the season. Lee Wilson's Blue Thunder squad blasted into the playoffs with an MFL record 182 pt performance during the last game of the regular season. He didn't rest there. A Mr. Chef Championship game dismantling of Sudden Death with a then #10 all time high of 166 pts sent notice to Team Xtreme that beating the Huskies was the game for second place. The #1 highest scoring Mayonnaise Bowl followed with Blue Thunder capping a Championship season, beating TX 168-120 in the finale. An incredible 516 pts in the last three weeks, a 380 pt season by his MVP RB LaDainian Tomlinson, a league leading and second all time 1824 pts scored in the season, and an all time best 95.15% starting lineup percentage, left little doubt who was the 2003 MFL Champion.
