The Wolverine Den Trivia
Q: ESPN's Game Day will be in Ann Arbor this week. When was the last time Game Day was here?
A: Game Day was in Ann Arbor for the Michigan-Notre Dame game. The last time Game Day was in Ann Arbor was the 2007 Ohio State game. Michigan's record when game day comes to Ann Arbor is now 8-2.
In 2009, Tate Forcier scored with 11 seconds left to beat Notre Dame. Last year, Denard Robinson scored with 27 seconds left to beat Notre Dame. This year, Denard’s pass to Roy Roundtree for the winning score left two ticks on the clock. There were three TDs scored in the final 72 second making this the most exciting game of the year, the decade and maybe forever!
For three quarters, Notre Dame controlled the game and lead 24-7. The Irish held a 373-141 total yardage advantage heading into the 4th quarter. And then everything changed. The Wolverines scored 28 points, piled up 311 yards of offense and 10 first downs – all in the game’s final 15 minutes. The comeback from 17 points was the third largest comeback in Michigan history. Denard finished with 446 total yards (338 passing and 108 rushing). It was the 3rd highest total yardage performance in Michigan history – and Denard now holds the top 5 all time performances for total yards in a game. He moved past Tom Brady into #8 all time in passing yards and tied the all-time Michigan record with 4 passing TDs in the game. He was named the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week.
For those that have said that Michigan Stadium is the quietest 100,000 people in the country, the New Michigan Stadium has solidified itself as the largest (114,804) and one of the loudest.
